The ice surface must remain flat and hard while avoiding surface melting or bubble formation. Beneath the ice rink surface lies a dense network of cooling pipes through which low-temperature secondary refrigerants circulate to continuously remove heat from the ice layer. The core of this process is an efficient and stable industrial refrigeration system.
To prevent the secondary refrigerant from freezing at sub-zero temperatures and to ensure smooth fluid flow, ice rinks commonly use glycol low-temperature chiller units as their primary cold source.
